I know I am, especially since Mom and I visited Jekyll Island, GA last weekend! We went to the beach and dropped in at the GA Sea Turtle Center. I’m so proud of Georgia for having this center to educate people about these endangered sea turtles native to GA. But mostly, they rehabilitate sick sea turtles until they are healthy enough to go back to their homes in the ocean. We even saw a loggerhead turtle receive care after having most of its right flipper bitten off by a shark! Ouch.

We learned so much about sea turtles.

Did you know:

1. There are 7 species of sea turtles, and 5 of them live in Georgia waters and beaches?

2. The Diamond Terrapin prefers to live in the bracken and marshes of Georgia? They are often hit by cars unfortunately, so watch out for turtles on the road!

3. There are many things you can do to help turtles.
